Project Highlight
What began as roadway improvements to Old State Road in Park Hills ended with the replacement of the existing utilities as well. Already selected for roadway replacement, it was determined that the utilities were also in need of replacement.
Utility design for the project included the replacement of existing storm water, sanitary sewer, and water lines. The design called for the storm and water lines to be installed beneath the existing utilities. Because the new storm and water lines were placed in the same location as the existing water lines, installation was carefully coordinated to minimize any loss of service for residents. For the storm and sanitary sewer lines, Bayer Becker coordinated with Sanitation District No. 1 (SD1) on installation and because SD1 owned the system they split the cost with the city, helping control costs. In addition to design, Bayer Becker oversaw the bidding and estimating process, discussed the project with residents and conducted construction administration services, including site visits and inspections. After installation of the utilities, the roadway will be replaced, including new curb and gutter.
